Project Overview

The garbage management situation is drastically worsening due to the growing population. Overflowing waste in public spaces leads to filthy conditions in the neighborhood and spreads several illnesses.

To solve this issue, we turned to LiDAR (Light Detection and Ranging) technology, which manages its precise readings, and controls garbage tracking systems rapidly and intelligently.

LiDAR sensors are capable of generating a 3d or 2D image with spatial and depth data for detecting, measuring, localizing, and tracking objects.

Garbage movements and measurements on the conveyor belt are monitored using LiDAR sensor systems. The implementation can have a very significant impact on the efficiency and sustainability of waste management operations.

The system can assist waste management firms to improve collection routes, saving fuel consumption and emissions, and boosting the recovery of recyclables and compostables by giving real-time information on waste containers and the garbage itself.

What_We_Build_Garbage
What We Build
  • LiDAR sensors are used on conveyor belts in waste management facilities to detect garbage movement & categorize it.
  • The laser light emitted by the LiDAR sensor bounces off the surface of the garbage and returns to the sensor. The sensor measures the time it takes for the light to bounce back, allowing it to calculate the distance between the sensor and the garbage.
  • The LiDAR sensor data is analyzed and calculated in three different units by software algorithms to extract crucial information about the garbage, such as its size, shape, composition, and its exact temperature. The information is subsequently analyzed and saved in a database. A dashboard program is used to extract data from a database and show it in real-time visual representation, including real-time fill level measurement, the type of waste collected, motor speed, and trash quantity processed. This software is a web-based solution.
  • Furthermore, the real-time information supplied by LiDAR technology can serve to strengthen public trust in trash management operations and raise overall waste management system efficiency.
Results of LiDAR Technology

Overall, installing LiDAR sensors on a conveyor belt in a garbage monitoring system may help waste management and the environment.

1
Improved Sorting Accuracy

Using LiDAR sensors enables for exact measurement of each waste item, lowering the danger of contamination and enhancing garbage sorting accuracy.

2
Better Waste Management

By precisely categorising waste, the garbage monitoring system can ensure that each type of waste is appropriately disposed of, limiting the negative environmental effect.

3
Increased Recycling Rates

Improved garbage sorting accuracy and efficient processing can lead to increased recycling rates.
